Meet The Cast Of The Upcoming Little House On The Prairie Reboot
The beloved Little House on the Prairie TV show is getting a reboot.
Laura Ingalls Wilder’s series of Little House books inspired the original Little House on the Prairie TV show. The program ran for nine seasons from 1974 to 1983 and remains popular today.
There’s long been talk about a Little House reboot or remake, but several original cast members believed such a show would never work. Then, in January 2025, Netflix announced that they are working on a new Little House series.

Now, four of the show’s main cast members have been revealed. On May 2, Deadline announced that the actors playing Charles “Pa” Ingalls, Caroline “Ma” Ingalls, Laura Ingalls, and Mary Ingalls had been cast.
- Luke Bracey joins the cast as Charles “Pa” Ingalls. Bracey previously appeared in Elvis, Hacksaw Ridge, Point Break and Holidate. He also plays a recurring character in the Hulu series Little Fires Everywhere.
- Crosby Fitzgerald will portray Caroline “Ma” Ingalls. Fitzgerald appears in the Amazon feature Crime 101 and plays a recurring role in the Amanda Knox limited series on Hulu. She’s also acted in Palm Royale and landed a guest role on Abbott Elementary.
- Alice Halsey joins the cast as Laura Ingalls. The 10-year-old actress has already made a name for herself after appearing in Lessons in Chemistry and Days of Our Lives.
- Skywalker Hughes rounds out the cast as Mary Ingalls. The young actress appears as a series regular on Joe Pickett and also starred in the film Ordinary Angels alongside Hilary Swank.
Deadline reported that the new Netflix series “picks up the story when the Ingalls have two daughters, Mary and Laura.” Filming will start in June.

Original Cast Members Share Their Thoughts On The New Series
The original Little House series celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024. At the time, Karen Grassle, who played Ma on the show, voiced her doubts that a reboot could work, knowing how past efforts had failed:
“There have been lots of attempts to do a Little House on the Prairie again. There have been shows, there have been a musical, and I think we had a unique experience and it can’t be repeated,” she said.
Melissa Sue Anderson, who played Mary on the first show, shared Grassle’s doubts. She cited the death of Michael Landon (who played Pa and served as an executive producer) as a reason why she believed a reboot wouldn’t be successful. “Little House works on television because of him,” she said.

Since learning that a reboot is officially happening, other cast members have spoken in support of the concept while also clarifying its true nature.
Alison Arngrim, Rachel Lindsay Greenbush, and Dean Butler, who played Nellie Oleson, Carrie Ingalls, and Almanzo Wilder in the original show, told Remind that the new Netflix series will pull more from the books. Therefore, it’s a new adaptation of Little House, rather than a proper reboot of the first TV series.
“This [show] is part of the Laura Ingalls Wilder multiverse,” Arngrim said.
Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura in the original show, shared similar comments:
“There’s no reason to capture the spirit of the original [show] at all,” she told PEOPLE. “I’m hoping, and from what I understand, is that the remake will hew closer to the books than we did. There’s a lot of information and beautiful stories to mine from the actual writings of Little House.”
Arngrim said she doesn’t know if anyone from the original cast will have a cameo or role in the new show. But she’s more than willing to join the cast, telling Remind, “I have been joking for years that I’m finally old enough to play Mrs. Oleson, so call me.”
