The CMT Music Awards are coming up on April 7. Hosted by Kelsea Ballerini for the fourth consecutive year, the award show will be held in Austin, Texas at the Moody Center.

Who are the nominees for the CMT Music Awards?

The CMT Music Awards are unique in that they are completely fan-voted, and are centered around music videos. There are many different categories including Video of the Year, Female Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, Duo/Group Video of the Year, Collaborative Video of the Year, Breakthrough Female Video of the Year, BreakthroughMale Video of the Year, CMT Performance of the Year, and CMT Digital-First performance of the Year.

Cody Johnson, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, Megan Maroney, and Jelly Roll are all tied for the most nominated with three nods each. Jelly Roll was the winningest artist in 2023’s CMT Music Awards with three awards.

Who is performing at the CMT Music Awards?

While not all performers have been announced yet, the first round of performers was revealed on March 19. That list includes Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Sam Hunt, and Kelsea Ballerini. On March 22, it was announced Jordan Davis and the band Needtobreathe would be performing together. In addition, they will be filming CMT Crossroads together before the show!

CMT Music Awards is giving out a brand-new award.

For the first-time ever, the CMT Music Awards will be handing out a new award titled the June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award. There were plenty of artists to choose to give this award to, but they chose none other than Trisha Yearwood!

“We’re thrilled to have Trisha Yearwood as our 2024 #CMTAwards June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award honoree,” CMT wrote on social media.

On CMT’s website, they wrote, “June Carter Cash inspired the award, which recognizes an artist, duo/group or industry veteran who demonstrates an exceptional dedication to the community and their fellow artists as Cash did.”

CMT is recognizing Yearwood for her “decades-long dedication” to Habitat for Humanity, as well as her work with Dottie’s Yard, which she founded, Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, Grammy Foundation MusiCares, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, Starkey Hearing Foundation, Susan B. Komen Foundation.

Yearwood said on social media that she is “humbled” to receive the inaugural award. She also revealed that she will be performing her new song that she wrote with Erin Enderlni and Kim “Moose” Brown titled “Put it in a Song.”

The 2024 CMT Music Award will air live on Sunday, April 7 at 8pm on CBS and can be streamed live and on-demand on Paramount+.
