In 2022, The Judds reunited for their first nationally televised performance in 20 years. That performance took place during the CMT Music Awards.
The mother-daughter duo sang their classic hit, “Love Can Build a Bridge.” They performed in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame, of which they were future inductees.
Viewers loved seeing the Judds reunite after so many years. But no one knew it’d be the last time they’d ever see them sing together.
Naomi Judd passed away just a few weeks later, on April 30, 2022. Her passing came just one day before the Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Before Naomi passed, the Judds announced their plans for a final tour. Wynonna decided to embark on the tour in her mother’s honor.
She had some help from friends along the way, including Ashley McBryde. After having such a great time together on tour, Wynonna and Ashley collaborated again during the 2023 CMT Music Awards.

It was a powerful thing to see Wynonna back on the same awards show where she last sang with her mother just one year prior. With Ashley’s support, she dove into a performance of Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is.” The track is one of Wynonna’s all-time favorite songs.
Wynonna started off singing solo. The song gave her the perfect opportunity to showcase the depth and power of her voice. Ashley joined in a little later, and beautifully harmonized with Wynonna while she stood by her side.
At one point, Wynonna offered a small shout-out to her late mother, saying how she should be there to see them in that moment. We wish she was here too…
To sum it up, Wynonna and Ashley ended up delivering one of the most memorable performances of the night. Watch them sing together at the 2023 CMT Music Awards by checking out the video below.
