Lainey Wilson Names Her Favorite Songs – Including Some Iconic Hits From Classic Country Legends
Lainey Wilson is a huge classic country music fan, so much so that she has songs by Willie Nelson, Keith Whitley, and Reba McEntire “on repeat.”
Wilson recently sat down with Glamour Magazine to discuss some of her favorite songs. She first gave a shout-out to pop star Sabrina Carpenter and her hit song, “Espresso.”
“I think she’s just a little bada—. Listening to her music just gets me fired up.” Wilson said.
Then, Wilson said her go-to sad song right now is Taylor Swift’s “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” She said:
“I love how they took a sad song and made it uptempo. When you can do that and do it right, you have something really special.”
As for which song is the “theme” of her life right now, Wilson says it’s “definitely going to have to be a song that [she] wrote [herself].” That song is “Good Horses,” her soon-to-be-released duet with Miranda Lambert.
The duo plans to release the track on Friday (August 2). But fans have already gotten a chance to hear them sing it live.
Lainey Rocks A Willie T-Shirt & Shares Which Reba Song Is One Of Her Favorites Of “All Time”
Then, when asked to name her favorite road trip song, Wilson named Willie Nelson’s iconic hit, “On the Road Again.” That seems fitting, considering the song’s lyrics!
Her answer was especially on the nose since she was rockin’ a Willie Nelson t-shirt during her interview.
She also nodded to Keith Whitley’s beloved tune, “When You Say Nothing at All,” as a song she’s always loved.
When it came time for Wilson to name her “all-time guilty pleasure song,” she quickly named Reba McEntire’s version of “Fancy” as that song.
“That’s my girl,” Wilson said with a smile.
Wilson first met McEntire at CMA Fest in 2023. They’ve since interacted several more times, most notably when McEntire invited Wilson to join the Grand Ole Opry during the Season 25 finale of The Voice in May 2024.
Wilson has even been compared to McEntire by another country music legend, Garth Brooks. During one of his Inside Studio G sessions on Facebook, he said:
“She’s the first woman, probably since Reba [McEntire], that you look at and go, this woman is gonna be around for a long, long time. She’s a current fad that’s going to last 40 years.”
McEntire is one of Wilson’s greatest role models, so she was certainly flattered by the comparison. Plus, considering how much she loves “Fancy,” we’d say that Lainey Wilson is a Reba McEntire fan for life!
