Lainey Wilson Finally Gets The Chance To Meet Reba McEntire, Calls It “One Of Those Pinch Me Moments”

In May, Lainey Wilson was named the Female Artist of the Year at the 2023 ACM Awards. Wilson was in disbelief as she accepted the trophy from Dolly Parton.

She then delivered what many considered to be the most impactful speech of the evening, saying:

“…everybody in this category didn’t just wind up here by happenstance. They have worked their fingers to the bone, they have put the blood, sweat, tears, and years and years into this. Made so many sacrifices, missing a lot of weddings, a lot of funerals…For the little girls watching this, this right here, it stands for hard work. If you’re gonna be a dreamer, you better be a doer.”

Wilson put in years of hard works as she chased her dreams following in the footsteps of great country women such as Parton and Reba McEntire. She got the chance to meet Parton for the first time at the ACM Awards.

She was able to meet McEntire the following month as CMA Fest…and it turns out she was just as excited to meet Wilson.

“Y’all…what even?” Wilson captioned the video she shared of her and McEntire meeting backstage at CMA Fest. “This was one of those pinch me moments. I am such a fan of @reba as not only an artist, but just for the incredible person she is…talk about a dream come true.”

The video picks up as McEntire and Wilson hug, and McEntire says, “I’ve been wanting to meet you too, how you doing?”

An emotional Wilson responds, “I’m gonna cry, you mean so much to me.”

McEntire congratulates Wilson on everything she’s done and accomplished. She adds how proud she is of her, and says, “We need ya.”
