Willie Nelson Joined By Chris Stapleton, Sheryl Crow, & Dave Matthews For Epic “On The Road Again” Collaboration

Willie Nelson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and performed one of his biggest hits with Chris Stapleton, Sheryl Crow, and Dave Matthews.
On Friday, November 3, Willie Nelson was officially inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Other inductees included Rage Against the Machine, Missy Elliott, Kate Bush, George Michael, Sheryl Crow, and The Spinners.
Back in may, when Nelson was first announced as an inductee, he wrote on social media that he was “honored to be announced as a 2023 @rockhall inductee! Among great company…”
Nelson took the stage to celebrate this momentous occasion with Chris Stapleton to perform his iconic song “Whiskey River.”
But he didn’t stop there! The 90-year-old legend – as well as Stapleton – were joined by Sheryl Crow and Dave Matthews for a riveting rendition of “On The Road Again.”
History of “On The Road Again”
“On The Road Again” was first written for the 1980 film Honeysuckle Rose. It quickly became Nelson’s ninth number one hit on the country chart, and one of his most recognizable songs! It peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, number seven on the Adult Contemporary chart, and even won a Grammy for Best Country Song the next year! It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 53rd Academy Awards, but lost out to “Fame” from the movie of the same name. Also nominated that year was Dolly Parton’s song “9 to 5.”

“Whiskey River” wasn’t the only time we’d be treated to a Willie Nelson performance! Fellow Rock Hall of Fame inductee Sheryl Crow came on stage with Dave Matthews, who is a good friend of Nelson’s, also came out and treated the audience to an awesome rendition of “On The Road Again.”
The Rock Hall Of Fame’s social media accounts shared a clip of the performance.
