Actor Kevin Coster was a presenter at the 2024 Golden Globes, one year after winning the award for Best Actor in a Television Series Drama.

He was notably absent from last year’s ceremony due to the storms in Santa Barbara, California, where he resided with then-wife Christine Baumgartner. They were forced to “shelter in place” and host Regina Hall accepted the award on his behalf and went viral for her reaction. Watch it below.

Despite her comedic reaction, Costner was very honored by winning the award and his cast mates couldn’t be prouder.

For the 2024 Golden Globes, the reigning Best Actor in a Drama Series was asked to be a presenter.

He shared a photo of himself looking dapper in a classic black tuxedo and wrote on social media, “Excited to be presenting at the @goldenglobes tonight! Especially after staying back last year during the devastating storms back at home. I’m grateful to be here—thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press for having me!”

Golden Globes host even pointed out Costner’s attendance during his opening monologue. He said, “kevin Costner’s here! Kevin Costner’s here. Kevin Costner’s never here! Kevin’s, like, in a mountain with a cow or something, but today he’s here!

While that joke didn’t get many laughs, Costner himself sure did when he was presenting the award for Best Television Female Actor – Musical/Comedy Series with America Ferrera.

Ferrera, who starred in the film Barbie, has been praised for her monologue which details how hard it is to be a woman.

The bit began when Ferrera told Costner what a huge fan she is, and how much she loves his movie The Bodyguard. ” “When you say, ‘Goodbye, Rachel.’ And then she leaves and then you run to each other and then… chills,” she tells him.

He responded, “You know, you have a scene that I really love. I think a lot of people really love that scene.”

Costner didn’t say which movie he was referring to, so she asked him. And he was fighting back laughter as he said the following:

“You know, ‘It’s literally impossible to be a woman.’ You know that, ‘You’re so beautiful. You’re so smart and kills me that you don’t think you’re good enough.’ That was pretty good.”

The actress was stunned, saying, “Did you, Kevin Costner, memorize my monologue about womanhood from Barbie?”

And without hesitation, Costner replied, “No,” which got a huge laugh from the audience. For the rest of their interactions, Costner was giggling and trying to be serious, which made the whole thing even funnier.

Costner continued, “But it’s an important message, and it always serves to remind me what’s possible in films. It just reminds me that when we take our time, when we manage to get it right, when film is working at its very best, it can be about moments you never ever forget. A look, a touch, a kiss, a speech, and you just had one of those moments. And all the actors nominated tonight know so well the power of writing that they’ve been gifted with and that they have the chance to live forever.”

Fans online came to the conclusion that Costner had no idea what he was going to be saying before he on stage and read the teleprompter.
