Norah Lee Allen, a gifted background vocalist known for her role as a full-time member of the Grand Ole Opry band, passed away due to an extended illness on March 31.

She devoted her life to assisting others, maintaining a career alongside music’s most prominent stars with humility and steadfast faith.

Throughout her 50-year career, Norah Lee performed with iconic names in country music, such as Carrie Underwood, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.

Duane’s Emotional Struggle

Her departure has left a profound impact on Duane, who took to social media on Friday (April 26) to express his heartfelt emotions and gratitude.

In an emotional social media post, Duane Allen conveyed his appreciation for the outpouring of love and support from fans and well-wishers. However, he also candidly expressed that the pain of losing his wife remains deeply ingrained.

“My big old home is filled with memories of everything that she put there. Our home was her castle…It is so hard sifting through all of the memories that each mean so much to me and her, but now, there is only me to enjoy it.”

The singer further disclosed the challenges of coping with the loss, sharing how he sought the help of a family friend to meticulously preserve their cherished memories at home.

“I have had a hard time even finishing sentences without crying since I lost the most beautiful lady I ever met, the love of my life. I am so thankful to God Almighty for letting me share her for 54 years and 8 months of the happiest years of my life. She was the love of my life.”

Duane’s touching words shed light on the emotional turmoil he is experiencing, revealing the profound bond he shared with his late wife.

Despite the emotional struggle, the Oak Ridge Boys have continued their American Made: Farewell Tour since Norah Lee Allen’s passing.

In a statement to Country Rebel, Oak Ridge Boys’ Joe Bonsall clarified that their farewell tour does not mean “goodbye.”
