Elvis Presley’s Stepbrother Claims That Elvis “Never Lost His Faith”

Elvis Presley’s first songs were gospel, and he sang them in a small church in Tupelo, Mississippi. Elvis’s life was filled with massive success and painful failure, but according to the rockstar’s stepbrother, Billy Stanley, Elvis carried God with him throughout his life and career.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Stanley spoke at length about his last conversation with Elvis, which occurred only a few days before his death. Stanley discussed how the “King of Rock & Roll” was thinking in his last days.

Elvis Presley’s Bible

Stanley began his interview by saying:

“Even though there was a Bible in every hotel room, he brought his Bible with him everywhere.”

Stanley worked for Elvis for a year, and his main job was carrying his Bible. He had a close relationship with the text and explained in detail how the rockstar’s Bible was filled with notes and underlined, saying:

“He did love his Bible; that’s where he got his peace.”

Elvis’s Shortcomings And Constant Faith

In response to people who point to Elvis’s very public problem with prescription drugs and other shortcomings, Stanley said a straightforward sentence:

“Well, we all fall short. We are all human.”

He described Elvis as living with God on one shoulder and the devil on the other. He explained that Elvis’s being as famous as he was was always under a microscope and how challenging that was for the rockstar.

As the interview went on, Stanley revealed that on this phone call, which was the last time the stepbrothers spoke, Elvis asked:

“Do you believe God forgives us of all our sins?’

To which Stanley responded:

“Well, yeah. We’ve talked about this for almost 17 years, Elvis. I mean, yeah.”

Elvis said back:

“I just wanted to hear you say that, Billy (Stanley).”

The late rockstar was contemplating death and life only days before his untimely passing on August 16th, 1977. Stanley finishes sharing his memory by confessing his regret that he did not tell the rockstar “I love you” on their last phone call.
