Sitting down to sing a song for a good cause, the gravelly-voiced hitmaker known for his refreshed take on George Jones’ “Tennessee Whiskey” lends his talents to a 2000-era hit from Lee Ann Womack.
Chris Stapleton and his wife Morgane joined in on Bobby Bones’ annual St. Jude Radiothon along with many other country artists to help raise money and awareness for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Singing Womack’s 2001 chart-topper, “I Hope You Dance,” Stapleton and Morgane issued a gravelly version with a slower tempo. Reminiscent of his other ballads, the singer wove a story using each note and poured as much emotion into the softer notes as he did the apex of the chorus.
About halfway through the song, Morgane adds in some notes of her own and takes the whole performance to the next level. It is truly a must-see video that any country fan will be delighted with.
