On Saturday night (May 4), George Strait kicked off his 2024 stadium performances at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The King of Country performed for nearly two hours, which included many of his hit songs, a few covers, and an unforgettable collaboration. Little Big Town and Chris Stapleton opened for the country legend.

During Strait’s 32-song set, he made a huge announcement.

He told the crowd that he has a new album in the works and it’s pretty much ready to go!

“We are going to do a few new things tonight. We’ve got a new record, it’s called ‘Cowboys and Dreamers.’ It’s going to be coming out soon.”

The upcoming album will be the country legend’s 31st album and his first in five years. While we don’t have the track listing, we do know there will be a collaboration with Chris Stapleton!

Stapleton opened the show for Strait, so he surprised the audience by coming on stage to perform not only their brand-new duet, but also to sing Strait’s 2013 song “You Don’t Know What You’re Missing.” This one is a common song they perform together when on the road!

What is the title of Strait and Stapleton’s new collaboration?

Following their duet to “You Don’t Know What You’re Missing,” Stapleton stayed on the stage to perform a brand-new song titled “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.”

The song is the perfect combination of the two country singers’ styles – traditional country with a contemporary twist. It tells the story of a singer setting out on their dreams of becoming a country singer. Some of the lyrics include:

“Everybody’s going to know my name /
And I’ll hang my straw behind the wall /
At the Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.”

While this is the first collaboration between Strait and Stapleton singing on a track together, this is not the first time the pair has worked together.

Stapleton wrote the song “Love’s Gonna Make It Alright,” which Strait included on his 2011 album Here For A Good Time.
