The first live eliminations of The Voice Season 25 took place Tuesday night. The field of 12 was narrowed to 9 semi-finalists.

For the second time in the competition, country singer Tae Lewis found himself in danger of elimination. Lewis first wowed the judges during his Blind Audition with a cover of Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You” and landed on Team Reba. But he fell short during the Knockout Round and was edged out by Asher HaVon.

Dan + Shay took advantage of the opportunity to steal Lewis and he has proven week after week that he is in it to win it. During Tuesday night’s episode, Lewis once again found himself at the bottom and fighting for his life.

Lewis, along with Zoe Levert (Team Legend), L. Rogers (Team Reba), and Nadege (Team Chance), received the least amount of America’s votes and were given one last chance to sing and win an Instant Save from viewers. Zoe sang Kacey Musgraves‘ “Slow Burn.” Rogers chose “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” by Elton John and George Michael. Nadege sang Sade’s “Smooth Operator. And Lewis chose to perform Shenandoah‘s 1989 hit, “Church On Cumberland Road.”

Lewis took the stage last and delivered an energetic and flawless performance of the classic country hit, seemingly unfazed by the pressure of the moment.

Following his performance, a five-minute window opened during which the public voted for which of the bottom four they wanted to save and send to next week’s semi-finals. Host Carson Daly revealed the results and shared that Tae Lewis was safe and would move on in the competition.

Tae’s Instant Save win means that Dan + Shay are the only coaches who didn’t say goodbye to any team members this week. They will be taking three contestants to the semi-finals.

On Monday, May 13, the Top 9 will take the stage to perform hometown song dedications in a live semi-final episode. America will have the opportunity to vote overnight, and the results will be revealed Tuesday, May 14. Four hopefuls will be eliminated, and we’ll learn which five contestants will compete in the finale. Four will move through based on America’s votes, while five will fight to earn an Instant Save. The Instant Save will once again be a five-minute voting window in which viewers can cast their votes to save one contestant who is in danger.

It’s an episode you won’t want to miss!
