George Strait Announces He’s Releasing A New Album “Soon”

This is not a drill…George Strait is releasing a new album in the near future.

“The King of Country” surprised fans with the album news at his Saturday night (May 4th) show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. He told the audience he has a new album ready to go, and teased when it will be released.

Strait also revealed the album’s title, telling the crowd:

“We are going to do a few new things tonight. We’ve got a new record, it’s called ‘Cowboys and Dreamers.’ It’s going to be coming out soon.”

Cowboys and Dreamers will be Strait’s 31st studio album. It will also be his first album released in five years, since 2019’s Honky Tonk Time Machine, which reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

Honky Tonk Time Machine included songs such as “Sing One with Willie,” “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar,” and “Código.”

Strait Also Debuted Two New Songs, Including A Collaboration With Chris Stapleton

For years, Strait has performed a small run of stadium shows with Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town. They’re back on the road with him again and were with him in Indianapolis.

So it makes perfect sense that one of Strait’s new songs is a collaboration with Stapleton, titled “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.” Strait and Stapleton played the song live for the first time at the May 4th show.

The song includes lyrics such as, “Everybody’s gonna know my name, when they hang my star behind the bar, in the Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.”
