Randy Travis Shares Family’s Tearful Reaction To His New Song

“Where That Came From,” The New Song From Randy Travis, Released On Friday, May 3
Randy Travis surprised his family by playing them a piece of his brand-new song, “Where That Came From.”
Travis suffered a stroke in 2013. The stroke had a serious effect on the country legend’s voice, making it difficult for him to speak or sing.
In the 11 years since then, Travis has made a few appearances to sing parts of songs such as “Amazing Grace” or his #1 hit “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
Travis has been able to release some new material in the past 11 years. But everything he’s shared was recorded prior to his stroke in 2013.
Then, on May 1, Travis announced his plans to release his “first brand new studio recording in more than a decade.” That recording is a brand-new song, titled “Where That Came From.”

Travis promised to share “the special team of folks who came together to help make this magical moment in [his] career possible” later down the line.
“In the meantime, just know that when it comes to me singing songs for you, thereâs always more where that came from. Thank you for singing along all these years,” he said.
Travis continued to share previews of the song alongside his friends’ emotional reactions to the new track. Artists such as Clay Walker, Cody Johnson, and Josh Turner were all amazed when they heard “Where That Came From” for the first time.

Travis also shared a video of his family’s emotional reaction after hearing “Where That Came From.” The video shows Travis and his wife, Mary, playing the song for their family.
They listened in stunned silence while tears filled their eyes. Travis was touched by their emotional responses to the song.
“To finally get to share the song with my family was both emotional and exciting,” Travis captioned the video. “Raleigh, Cavanaugh, and her husband Kyle are the heartbeat of our daily lives and have been great leaning posts for me and Mary. To hear that familiar voice again filled their hearts with happiness and their eyes with tears.“
