Martina McBride Sings “Remarkable” Cover Of Garth Brooks’ “The Dance”

In 2009, a concert was held in Las Vegas to honor George Strait as the ACM Artist of the Decade.
Many famous country singers performed at the event, including Toby Keith, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack, and many more. Before switching from country to pop music, Taylor Swift performed a special rendition of Strait’s 2001 hit, “Run.”
But, one standout performance of the night came from the iconic Martina McBride, known for her hits like “Wild Angels,” “A Broken Wing,” and “I Love You.” During the all-star concert, most singers chose to sing George Strait songs to honor the legend, but Martina McBride did something different. She sang Garth Brooks’ famous “The Dance.”

The Story Behind “The Dance”
Tony Arata wrote the country music masterpiece and the iconic Garth Brooks brought it to life in 1990. The powerful ballad served as the grand finale on Brooks’ self-titled debut album, claiming the tenth and final spot. “The Dance” quickly became a fan favorite and earned its place as what many consider Brooks’ defining track.
The track’s impact was undeniable, as it soared to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, holding its position for an impressive three weeks straight.
Brooks himself has spoken about the song’s significance in his career. During an interview in 1994, he once shared:
“Unless I am totally surprised, ‘The Dance’ will be the greatest success as a song we will ever do. I’ll go to my grave with ‘The Dance.’ It’ll probably always be my favorite song.”
