After 14 Years, Jamey Johnson Releases A New Solo Studio Album, Midnight Gasoline

Finally, there’s a new Jamey Johnson album in the world…Midnight Gasoline.

Midnight Gasoline is Johnson’s first solo studio album in 14 years. He began teasing the project by releasing new songs such as “21 Guns,” “Sober,” and “Trudy,” the latter being a duet with Randy Houser.

Then, in early October, Johnson announced those songs were part of a brand-new, 12-track album titled Midnight Gasoline. The news came shortly after Johnson shared he’d signed a new label deal with Warner Music Nashville.

To sweeten the deal, Johnson revealed that “Midnight Gasoline” is the first in a series of albums he recorded at the famous Cash Cabin recording studio. So we can expect to hear even more new music from the Grand Ole Opry member in the future.

Johnson felt motivated to release a new album following Toby Keith’s death in February. The two artists were good friends and were working on a song together shortly before Keith died.

“When Toby passed away, it moved everything into high gear because I realized that that was the end of his discography, that we weren’t getting another Toby Keith record,” Johnson told Billboard. “And that’s what drove me to wanting to finish my own discography. It’s what made me understand that I’m nowhere near done, and so it’s time to get busy. After he passed away, I immediately started talking about this session and started trying to get all the particulars in order. It was time for me to get in the studio again.”
