Jackson Dean Wore Glen Campbell’s Jacket During ACM Honors Tribute Performance

Country music singer/songwriter Jackson Dean honored the late Glen Campbell during the 2024 ACM Honors.
The 17th annual Academy of Country Music Honors took place on Wednesday, August 21, at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Since its debut in 2007, the event has become a cornerstone of recognition within the industry.
The evening was led by Carly Pearce, returning for her fourth consecutive year as host. She was joined by co-host Jordan Davis, the reigning ACM Song of the Year winner.
Pearce told the crowd, “This show is the industry’s favorite night because it honors not only the artists but the behind-the-scenes community that makes what we do possible.”
A highlight of the evening was the ACM Lifting Lives grant cycle segment, powered by Music Has Value.
During this special moment, rising star Jackson Dean took center stage, wearing a shirt once owned by the late Glen Campbell. Dean delivered a stirring rendition of Campbell’s “Strong,” paying homage to the country music icon.

In an exclusive pre-show interview, the Maryland native shared the story behind wearing Campbell’s jacket and the significance it held for him:
“It’s one heck of an honor to be singing at the ACM Honors and especially for Glen,” Dean shared. “Glen had one of the finest right hands that God ever put on this planet…To be reppin’ him and his family and this record, the duets record of Ghost on the Canvas.”
Dean then revealed that it was actually Campbell’s widow who reached out about the jacket.
“Ms. Kim Campbell gave me this jacket to wear tonight. This is a Glen Campbell jacket. He wore this a bunch back in the day. She got word of it and was like, “Hey, do you want to wear something?’ And I was like, ‘Uhh, yeah!’ It just fit like a glove.”

When asked about his post-performance celebration plans, Dean replied with a laugh:
“Probably with a drink. I’m not a big partier, but I like to have a good time.”
