Former American Idol contestant Mia Matthews shares her rendition of a classic country tune
Alabama native Mia Matthews caught the attention of the judges on season 22 of American Idol with her pure country sound and impressive poise, even though she was only 19 years old. Mia had a commendable run on the show, covering many famous country songs along the way, but was ultimately eliminated before the Top 8.
Since then, she has been releasing her own music and performing with country gospel trio Worth The Wait. The group has performed all over Nashville, including the Grand Ole Opry and the historic Ryman Auditorium.
Most recently, Mia released a series of acoustic cover videos featuring songs by Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton, and more. To cap off the series, Mia released her acoustic rendition of Loretta Lynn’s classic hit “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man).”

Loretta Lynn’s “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)”
“You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)” was originally written by country music royalty Loretta Lynn in 1965. According to Loretta, the song was inspired by a real-life woman whom she met backstage at a show. The woman shared with Loretta her worries about another woman who was pursuing her husband. The queen of country music responded:
“Honey, she ain’t woman enough to take your man!”
Hours later, Loretta had written the lyrics that would go on to become one of her signature songs. It became the title track to her 1966 album and peaked in the number two spot on the US Hot Country Songs chart.
