Ricky Skaggs Shares Funeral Arrangements For Buck White
Funeral arrangements for Grand Ole Opry legend Buck White have been announced following his death on January 13.
Buck sang in the country/bluegrass/gospel group The Whites with two of his four daughters, Sharon and Cheryl. Together, they earned countless hits, won two Grammys, and secured a spot in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.
The Whites became members of the Grand Ole Opry on March 2, 1984. At the time of his passing, Buck was the oldest living member of the Opry. Now, nearly 92-year-old Stu Phillips is the oldest living member.
Buck’s son-in-law, Ricky Skaggs (married to Sharon White), shared a statement from Buck’s daughters announcing his death on January 13. The statement read:
“The Lord answered our prayers and took our daddy, Buck White, home peacefully this morning [January 13] at 8:00 a.m. We are so thankful for his 94 years on this earth. He was a great dad who taught us by example to put Jesus first always. His great loves were the Lord, our mother, his family, and music. Most people will remember him not only for being a great musician and entertainer, but also for being fun-loving and full of mischief. He lived a full life and finished well.”

- Visitation – Monday, January 27, at the Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville from 3 to 7 PM.
In lieu of sending flowers, Buck’s family requests memorial contributions be made to The Opry Trust Fund or the Music Health Alliance.
