To honor George Jones on the tenth anniversary of his passing, an all-star tribute concert was put together.

Wynonna Judd and Jamey Johnson came together to perform Jones’ hit song with his longtime duet partner and one-time wife, Tammy Wynette.

“Golden Ring” is a timeless country duet originally performed by George and Tammy in 1976. The song narrates a poignant tale of love, loss, and enduring commitment symbolized by a golden ring. Through its heartfelt lyrics and emotive melody, the song encapsulates the complexities of relationships, as the couple faces trials and tribulations but ultimately finds solace in their enduring bond represented by the golden ring.

George and Tammy’s powerful vocal performances infuse the song with raw emotion, drawing listeners into the narrative and evoking a sense of empathy and understanding. The imagery of the golden ring serves as a powerful metaphor for the enduring nature of love, despite the challenges that may arise.

Decades after its release, “Golden Ring” continues to resonate with audiences, reminding listeners of the enduring power of love and the significance of commitment in the face of adversity. It remains a cherished classic in the country music canon, celebrated for its timeless themes and heartfelt storytelling.

Wynonna and Jamey’s duet proves the longevity of the song.

For the George Jones: Still Playin’ Possum event, Jamey Johnson performed twice, first singing “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes” solo, followed by an incredible duet with Wynonna to “Golden Ring.”

They captivated the audience from the very first note. Wynonna started the song out solo, then Jamey took a line. When Jamey sang, the redheaded singer could not stop smiling, and therefore, neither could we!
