Reba McEntire Is Hosting The ACM Awards This Year, Not Dolly Parton & Garth Brooks

Former ACM Awards host Dolly Parton joined Garth Brooks to co-host the ceremony in 2023. It was Brooks’ first time ever hosting an awards show.

Fans were thoroughly entertained by the pair’s hilarious jokes, especially in their opening skit. Brooks referred to Parton as “The G.O.A.T.” and “The King of Country Music.” In response, Parton made her grand entrance while rolling an actual goat onstage in a wagon.

Brooks and Parton also shared a moving tribute to artists who passed away in the year before the ceremony. Parton delivered a short, a cappella rendition of “Precious Memories,” leaving Brooks and the audience in awe.

As the 2024 ACM Awards approached, fans wondered if Parton and Brooks would host the ceremony again. However, on April 25, the ACM announced they would not return.

Instead, Reba McEntire will host this year’s ACM Awards, which will be her 17th time hosting the event.

ACM Producer Reveals The Country Music Icons Turned Down The Chance To Host The ACM Awards Again

Patrick Menton, the co-executive producer of the ACM Awards, recently told Billboard they approached Parton and Brooks about hosting the ceremony again. But the country music icons declined the offer.

Menton explained the reason he believes Brooks and Parton chose to step down.

“They were ready to take a step down,” he said. “They had such a rocking year last year, they probably felt like it [would be] hard to top.”

Both Brooks and Parton have been extremely busy since last year’s ACM Awards. Parton released her new album, Rockstar, in November. She’s also actively involved in many other projects, including her line of baking products, her Imagination Library, and a new cookbook with her sister, Rachel.

As for Brooks, he’s been heavily involved with his new Friends In Low Places bar in Nashville, which just opened in March.

While we’ll miss seeing Brooks and Parton at the ACM Awards this year, we know McEntire will do a great job hosting as always!
