Vince Gill joins Luke Combs to perform “One More Last Chance” at the 2023 CMA Fest in June.

The CMA Fest (formerly known as Fan Fest) celebrated it’s 50th anniversary this year, and they went all out with incredible performances and collaborations from the world’s greatest country music artists such as Cody Johnson, Carly Pearce, Jo Dee Messina, Keith Urban and others. Arguably the best collaboration of the night was the Vince Gill and Luke Combs duo. A classic country music legend with a modern country music star paired up to deliver a dynamite performance of Vince’s 1992 hit song, “One More Last Chance.”

It’s no secret that these two share a tight bond. Combs recalls sneaking into a Vince Gill concert at just 9 years old to hear the singer. Vince still jokes with Luke that he owes him $40 for the ticket he never paid for.

“He’s a sweet kid. He kind of credits me with being one of his favorites when he was getting going,” Vince says in an interview with the Tennessean. “He told me that one of my concerts was his first concert as a 9-year-old kid. And he snuck in, so I tell him he still owes me $40 for a ticket.”

As if the pair didn’t have enough of a connection already, Vince was privileged with the opportunity to induct Combs into the Grand Ole Opry in 2019.

“You are killing it. It’s so much fun to watch because you’re so real and so honest and, more than anything, you are at the top of your game” Vince told Luke during the induction.

An emotional Luke Combs responded saying, “It’s pretty hard to find anything to say that makes me feel like I wouldn’t sound like an idiot. Right now here I am on stage with people I grew up listening to and people that have shaped me as an artist, and I just want to say thank you to you guys, thank you to the Grand Ole Opry, and thank you to the fans.”

Videos of the performance show the energetic pair absolutely killing this duet. Combs is shown singing most of the lead as his hero accompanies him singing harmony and playing the guitar including a flawless guitar solo.

It is obvious that Luke has a lot of respect for the “Go Rest High On That Mountain” singer, and Vince has a mutual respect for the “sweet kid.”
