Unreleased Olivia Newton-John Song Drops Two Years After Her Passing

A never-before-heard song sung by Olivia Newton-John has been released, two years after her death.
Two years ago, Olivia Newton-John lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 73. Now, fans have the opportunity to hear the Grammy-winning singer’s voice once again, as her longtime collaborator and friend, Jim Brickman, has released a previously unheard song.
Titled “My Dream,” the unfinished song was discovered by Brickman while going through old cassette tapes after Olivia Newton-John’s passing.
“It all happened in one day at Olivia’s house in Malibu,” Jim Brickman told PEOPLE about how the song came to life. “First writing in the morning and then recording a quick demo in the afternoon at John Farrar’s, a longtime collaborator with Newton-John, studio. The version you hear now, is from that original session. A very relaxed and happy day.”
Brickman went on to explain that the song was originally meant to be a romantic duet but “has now become more significant as a theme that resonated with Olivia about her dream and hope for a cure for cancer.”
Olivia Newton-John fought a nearly 30-year battle with breast cancer, with the disease returning twice after her initial diagnosis. As a passionate advocate for finding a cure, Brickman wanted to honor her legacy through this touching, long-lost song. To do this, he will be donating 100% of the proceeds from “My Dream” to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, which supports global research into plant medicine for cancer.
To complete the song, Brickman collaborated with the Italian trio Il Volo to bring it to life.
“I wanted the song to be shared on a global level, and it needed an extremely passionate performance. Il Volo brings such an emotional and cinematic quality to it. It just feels intimate, yet epic,” Brickman said.

Along with its incredible initiative to raise money and awareness for Olivia’s cause, he also hopes this song gives her fans a chance to hear her voice one more time, allowing them to connect with her again.
“Like so many of us, when I hear one of her songs on the radio, it makes me smile, and reminds me how beloved she is, and always will be,” he said.
