Trisha Yearwood Recently Received A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame, And Her Good Friend Reba McEntire Was There To Celebrate With Her

In a ceremony held on Monday, March 24, Trisha Yearwood became the latest country artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She was honored with the 2,805th star and was recognized in the Recording category.

Yearwood’s family and friends came together during this special moment to support her. Her husband, Garth Brooks, was there, along with Reba McEntire, who spoke at the event.

Before McEntire gave her speech, Yearwood talked about her longtime friendship with the “Fancy” singer.

The two have been close for years, and Yearwood recalled a kind gesture from McEntire early in her career. She said that after receiving the thoughtful gift, she felt welcomed into country music, and their friendship grew from there.

“The first artist that was so kind to me at an award show was Reba McEntire, who just exemplifies friendship and class,” Yearwood began.

“She sent me flowers at my first award show when no one even knew I was in the dressing room and I thought they were from my mom and dad,” she continued. “And then I saw that they were from Reba and I’m like, ‘Oh okay.’ And I am so blessed that you and I have become more than just colleagues that get to see each other, but friends that get to hang out.”

Yearwood also spoke about the importance of women supporting each other in country music.

“The truth is, we’re all cheering for each other and with each other. Just as an example, these girls, from every generation of country music, we’re all for each other.”

When it was McEntire’s turn to speak, she reminisced about the night Yearwood mentioned. She shared what made her realize that Yearwood was someone she wanted to be friends with in an industry where trust can be hard to come by.

“After the award show we went to the party and I came by and sat with you and your mom… I sat there with you and I thought, ‘I love her already she’s sitting with her mom,'” McEntire said. “Because my mom and I were real close just like you and your mom, and your dry wit sense of humor won my heart.”

The three-time Grammy winner continued, “Our friendship throughout the years means the world to me because girls out on the road need a buddy. We are in the country music business where girls stick together, we have fun together, we complain and gripe to each other because you can’t do that with anybody else. Nobody else understands.”

There’s no doubt that McEntire and Yearwood’s friendship is special. In fact, millions of people got to see them in action together not long ago during the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th-anniversary celebration.

To kick off the live broadcast of Opry 100, the two country icons performed “The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia.”
