Remember When Connie Smith And Joe Diffie Sang âLouisiana Woman, Mississippi Manâ Together?
Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn first recorded “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” in 1973 as the lead single and title track for their third collaborative album. It went on to become their third No.1 song together.
Twitty and Lynn are considered one of the greatest music duos of all time. Between 1971 and 1988, they released 11 studio albums with each other, four of them reaching the top of the country charts.
The famous story behind how this song became one of Twitty and Lynn’s most iconic songs started when Lynn’s husband, Mooney, first heard the demo. The songwriters of the track, Jim Owen and Becki Bluefield, had dropped it off at Lynn’s office, and as soon as Mooney listened to it, he knew it would be the perfect fit for his wife and Twitty.

The song has since gone on to be a country classic, with multiple artists covering it over the years.
Alan Jackson and Lee Ann Womack have paired together to sing the duet before, and even Cody Johnson and Lainey Wilson have made their own recording of the hit.
However, one of the most memorable renditions was a duet between legends Connie Smith and Joe Diffie.
