The Judds Reunite At 2022 CMT Music Awards For Last Performance Before Naomi’s Passing

In the leadup to the 2022 CMT Music Awards, CMT announced The Judds would be performing during the ceremony. This was a major announcement, since it marked the mother-daughter duo’s first nationally televised performance in over 20 years.
The Judds’ appearance at the CMT Music Awards came after they were named as future inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame. There was a renewed interest in their music following that announcement in 2021.
After performing together as a duo in the 80s and 90s, the Judds disbanded in 1991. Though they did reunite a few times for special events and tours. Prior to the CMT Music Awards, their last big reunion was at the “All in for the Gambler” tribute concert for Kenny Rogers in 2017.
The same day as the CMT Music Awards, the Judds also announced their plans to embark on a “Final” tour in 2022.
Since they were awaiting their official induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, it seemed fitting to have The Judds deliver their CMT Music Awards performance in front of its building. They sang their 1990 song “Love Can Build a Bridge.”
The performance ended up drawing lots of praise from viewers. But no one knew that it would be the last time they’d ever see The Judds sing together.
Naomi passed away just a few weeks later on April 30. It was the day before The Judds were set to be officially inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The induction continued as planned, and Wynonna attended along with her sister Ashley. During her speech, Wynonna spoke about how she was “broken” but “blessed” to be honored as a Hall of Fame inductee.
Head below to watch The Judds’ final performance together singing “Love Can Build a Bridge” during the 2022 CMT Music Awards. Naomi is dearly missed.
