Lineup Revealed For Tribute To George Strait At The 2024 CMA Awards
The CMA shared that Strait would accept the award at the 2024 CMA Awards on Wednesday (November 20). The CMA also announced Strait would be recognized with “a star-studded performance by several artists who deeply admire [him].”
The exact lineup of performers was kept secret until the morning of the ceremony. That’s when the CMA named the superstar artists participating in the tribute.
Chris Stapleton, Parker McCollum, Lainey Wilson, Jamey Johnson, and Miranda Lambert will deliver the tribute to Strait. Many of the singers are Strait’s friends, such as Chris Stapleton, who’s toured with him for years and recorded a collaboration on Strait’s new album, Cowboys and Dreamers.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, Johnson seems poised to sing “Give It Away.” He co-wrote the song with Bill Anderson and Buddy Cannon. Strait turned “Give It Away” into a #1 hit, and it won Song of the Year at the 2007 CMA Awards.
