During the knockouts, Ruby opted to cover another iconic country song, “Blue” by LeAnn Rimes.

Ruby is actually older than LeAnn was when she recorded “Blue.” LeAnn was only 13 years old when she recorded the song for her debut album, also titled Blue.

“Blue” reached the 10th spot on the Hot Country Songs chart and crossed over to claim the 26th spot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. It has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

Because “Blue” is a dynamic song, it’s not an easy one to sing. But Ruby rose to the challenge, and excelled.

“Blue” gave Ruby the perfect opportunity to showcase her depth and tone. It also gave her the chance to throw in some of her signature yodels, which clearly captivated the coaches.
