Rhonda Vincent Debuts New Album Destinations And Fun Places, Featuring Collaborations With Her Famous Friends
With her new album being named Destinations and Fun Places, it only makes sense that Rhonda Vincent covered Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” for the project. After all, what place is more fun than Margaritaville?!
Destinations and Fun Places debuted on Friday (August 9). The project was years in the making, as Vincent first felt inspired to create the record in 2020.
She told RFD-TV it all started when she helped her good friend, Jeannie Seely, re-write a song called “I Miss Missouri.”
Their writing session made Vincent think of other songs about various destinations, so she started listing them. Before she knew it, her list had more than 100 songs.
Vincent narrowed down the tracks from there. Destinations and Places contains two original songs and 11 covers. Some of the songs Vincent recorded for the album include “Wagon Wheel,” “9 to 5,” “Rocky Top,” and “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
The latter song is a collaboration with two of Vincent’s famous friends: Cody Johnson and Dolly Parton. It was Johnson’s first time ever singing with Parton, and his reaction to hearing the finished song was priceless.
What Does Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” Sound Like As A Bluegrass Song?
Vincent’s version of “Margaritaville” is another collaboration. It features fellow Grand Ole Opry members Trisha Yearwood and Jeannie Seely.
As “The Queen of Bluegrass,” Vincent understandably gave “Margaritaville” a bluegrass twist. So, if you’ve ever wondered what the famous tune would sound like as a bluegrass song, now you know!
The timing of the release is somewhat bittersweet…since Buffett passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 76.

Vincent, Yearwood, and Seely’s cover of “Margaritaville” is a fun and fitting tribute to the late singer.
The vocalists take turns singing the verses, then unite to sing together on the famous chorus. They sweetly harmonize while the sound of bluegrass instruments accent their performance.
Vincent, Yearwood, and Seely also made a slight change to the lyrics to sing about how “some people claim there’s a man to blame” instead of a woman like Buffett sings about in his original recording.
Listen to the three talented ladies’ new version of “Margaritaville” in the audio clip below. We’d love to hear them all sing this together live one day!
