Hee Haw Star And Gospel Singer Lulu Roman Died On April 23, 2025
After learning about Lulu Roman’s passing, we wanted to remember the talented singer and comedian with her performance of Patsy Cline‘s timeless track, “Crazy.”
Lulu was born Bertha Louise Hable on May 6, 1946. She was placed in a Baptist orphanage in Dallas as a child, but sadly, was never adopted.
Young Lulu faced some serious obstacles in life, including a thyroid condition that caused her to gain weight. Additionally, Lulu struggled with drugs as a teenager and young adult. She was arrested for drug possession in 1971.
Two years after her arrest, Lulu gave her heart to Jesus. She turned her life around after embracing her Christian faith.
Lulu shared her love for the Lord through her music and became a popular gospel singer. She also rose to fame as a regular cast member on the country music variety show Hee Haw, where she showcased her comedic talents.
Sadly, Lulu passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 78. The Hollywood Reporter writes that she moved seven months prior to be with her son, Damon, in Bellingham, Washington.

Lulu’s voice was deep yet delicate, and 100% her own. She also possessed an undeniable stage presence, as you can feel her drawing you into every lyric.
The throwback footage of Lulu singing “Crazy” has generated over 300,000 views on Facebook alone. Fans writing in the comments section shared their respect for the singer and her rendition of the Patsy Cline classic.
