Reba McEntire To Star In New Sitcom On NBC – Over 20 Years After Her First Sitcom Reba Premiered

While it may not be the long-awaited Reba reboot many have hoped for, this is still good news for its fans. Reba McEntire is set to star in a new sitcom on NBC!

The news comes over 20 years after McEntire’s first sitcom, Reba, premiered. The show ran from 2001-2007. McEntire played Reba Hart, a mom with three kids and a slightly dysfunctional family dynamic.

Fans have been calling for a Reba reboot for a long time. The cast would love to make it happen, including McEntire. In 2022, she said the Reba casthas really been trying hard to do a reboot,” but the pieces aren’t falling into place.

We wanted to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day,” she said.

Learn All The Details About Reba McEntire’s New Show

Although we don’t have a Reba reboot, we do have the next best thing. A brand-new sitcom, starring Reba McEntire!

NBCUniversal announced on Monday (January 29) that McEntire will be the star of a yet-to-be-named sitcom coming to NBC. It seems fitting for the show to air on the channel, since McEntire serves as a coach on The Voice, which also airs on NBC.

The logline for McEntire’s new sitcom reads:

Reba inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.”

In addition to starring in the series, McEntire will also executive produce.

She’ll get the chance to work with someone familiar. Kevin Abbott, a former writer and executive producer on Reba, will serve as the head writer and executive producer for the new series. Abbott is also known for his work on Last Man Standing and Cristela.

NBC did not share a premiere date for McEntire’s new show.

This isn’t McEntire’s first time starring in her own sitcom after Reba went off the air. She previously had another show, Malibu Country, which ran for one season from 2012-2013. Blake Shelton guest starred on the show, and played McEntire’s little brother. Watch one of their scenes together in the video below.
