A New George Jones Album, The Lost Nashville Sessions, Has Been Released
Fans of the late country music legend George Jones have something special to celebrate. On November 15, a brand-new album featuring 16 songs Jones originally recorded for radio in the 1970s became available.
The album, The Lost Nashville Sessions, features recordings Jones made for artist promotion. Typically, recordings like these were made in just one or two takes and were usually discarded by radio stations after they aired.

For years, these recordings were believed to be long gone. That changed when Thomas Gramuglia, president and executive producer of Country Rewind Records, discovered Jones’ original master tapes.
With the help of co-executive producer Rex Allen Jr. and producer Paul Martin, the songs were restored with improved sound quality, allowing modern listeners to once again enjoy the unforgettable voice of George Jones.

Now that the full album is available, classic songs from the country icon we all know and love, like “White Lightnin'” and “The Race is On,” have received a 21st-century enhancement.
“Music truly is the gift that keeps giving,” said Nancy Jones, George’s widow, in a statement. “Even after all these years, we’re still releasing new music from George. This collection features sixteen songs, and while some may be familiar hits, these versions are ones you’ve never heard before. I’m thrilled to share them with all of his devoted fans.”
In the weeks leading up to the release of The Lost Nashville Sessions, fans got a preview of some classic tracks from the album. In mid-October, the first song available dropped. It was a refreshed version of Jones’ 1981 hit “The Honky Tonk Downstairs.”

The second single shared before the album’s official release date was Jones’ 1961 No. 1 hit, “Tender Years.”
