Desi Arnaz Jr. was born on January 19, 1953. He was thrust into the spotlight from birth, famously making headlines as “Lucyâs $50,000,000 Baby” due to his highly publicized birth. He was born the same day his mom’s TV character, Lucy Ricardo, gave birth to her fictional baby, Little Ricky Ricardo, on I Love Lucy. The public believed he was born on camera and played Little Ricky, but this was false.
Arnaz Jr. began his acting career in the 1960s, appearing on his motherâs later show, Hereâs Lucy, alongside his sister, Lucie. He also pursued a music career, joining the band Dino, Desi & Billy, which achieved moderate success with several hit songs in the mid-1960s.
Throughout his career, Desi Arnaz Jr. has taken on various roles in film and television, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Despite living in the shadow of his famous parents, Arnaz Jr. has carved out his niche in the entertainment industry, contributing to its rich history.
After he married his wife, Amy Bargiel, in 1987, they laid down roots in Las Vegas and bought the Boulder Theater, which they restored. Desi Jr. and Lucie executive produced the 2021 movie Being the Ricardos and earned Emmy nominations for their work on the film.
Despite his high-profile parents, Desi Jr now prefers to stay out of the spotlight, seemingly still residing near Las Vegas.
Lucie was in town because her husband, actor Laurence “Larry” Luckinbill, was attending the 35th Anniversary of Star Trek V at the Treksperts Convention. He famously played Spock’s half-brother Sybok in the film.
