The year 2020 has had a pretty rocky start and as the nation struggles through its issues, it’s nice to hear women such as Loretta Lynn, use their platform to spread a positive message. As protests surrounding the death of George Floyd continued across the country, Lynn said in a tweet on Wednesday, June 3rd:

“I was taught that you treat others the way you want to be treated. That simple truth has served me well my whole life. As I’ve watched the pain and the hurt so many are in right now, I’ve just prayed for our country. We need God now, more than ever.”

Lynn also shared a YouTube video of the cover she and Conway Twitty released in 1976 of the Bobby Bare song “God Bless America Again.” Originally, the song was released as a plea for God’s forgiveness for the nation’s wrongdoings in the ’60s but the message is still applicable today.
The chorus of the song reads,

God I sure to wish you bless America again
You know like you did way back when it all began
You blessed her then but we just sorta kinda took it for granted
And never did ask again
So just hold her hand God that’s all
And if she should stumble please don’t let her fall
God bless America again.
