Toby Keith’s Daughter Performs Don’t Let The Old Man In” To Honor Him During A Concert In Nashville

Toby Keith’s daughter, Krystal Keith, joined an all-star lineup of country singers who paid tribute to Toby during a concert in Nashville on Monday (July 29). The event, called Toby Keith: An American Icon, was also a charity benefit for Toby’s OK Kids Korral and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Performers included Trace Adkins, Jamey Johnson with Lainey Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, and many more.

But the night’s most meaningful performance came from Krystal. She sang “Don’t Let the Old Man In” in tribute to her father.

Toby felt inspired to write “Don’t Let the Old Man In” after having a conversation with Clint Eastwood about aging. Eastwood loved the finished song and featured it in his 2018 film The Mule.

In September 2023, Keith delivered a captivating performance of “Don’t Let the Old Man In” during the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards. It was Toby’s first televised performance since he revealed his diagnosis with stomach cancer. He died just a few months later, on February 5, 2024.

Krystal brought pure emotion to her cover of “Don’t Let the Old Man In” during the tribute concert honoring her father. She donned a black dress and matching black cowboy hat and sang while photos of her and her father flashed on the screen onstage.

At the end of the song, Krystal tipped her hat and pointed her finger to the sky before placing her hand over her heart.

Later that evening, Krystal shared a special detail about the cowboy hat she wore for her performance. She revealed that the hat was custom-made for her dad.

Krystal shared two photos on Instagram. The first showed her bowing her head and tipping her hat. The second picture showed an inscription on the inner brim, which read “Custom Made Especially For Toby Keith.” 

“I did a thing tonight,” Krystal wrote in the photos’ caption. “Wearing the hat custom fit for a King. It was so fun honoring him and I hope I made him proud.”
