Kelly Clarkson Honors George Strait With “Kellyoke” Cover Of His #1 Hit “Carrying Your Love With Me”
A few years ago, Kelly Clarkson used the popular “Kellyoke” segment of her talk show to honor “The King of Country,” George Strait. She covered his iconic song “You Look So Good in Love,” and fans were enchanted by her performance.
Since then, fans have been waiting to see if Clarkson would cover another one of Strait’s songs on her talk show.

Finally, nearly three years later, Clarkson honored Strait with a new “Kellyoke” performance. This time, she opted to cover his #1 hit from 1997, “Carrying Your Love with Me.”
“Carrying Your Love with Me” was written by Steve Bogard and Jeff Stevens. Strait released the song as the second single from his album of the same title.
“Carrying Your Love with Me” reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It ranked at the #3 spot on the year-end Country Songs chart for 1997. The track was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA in 2022.
The song also led Strait to a Grammy nomination in the Best Male Country Vocal Performance category at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Vince Gill ended up winning the award for “Pretty Little Adriana.”

Since “Carrying Your Love with Me” is one of the most beloved songs in Strait’s catalog, Clarkson made sure to do it justice. She kept the song country, and true to its original style.
