Josh Turner Honors Kris Kristofferson With Heartfelt Cover Of “A Moment Of Forever”

Kris Kristofferson Died On September 28, 2024, At The Age Of 88
Josh Turner is one of many country stars to pay tribute to Kris Kristofferson following his death on September 28, 2024.
A statement posted on Kristofferson’s social media pages the following day (September 29) confirmed his passing. He was 88 years old.
The statement read:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28 at home. We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”
Kristofferson’s survivors include his wife of 41 years, Lisa Meyers, his eight children, and his beloved grandchildren. He also left behind his countless friends in the country music industry, including Josh Turner.
Josh Turner Remembers Kris Kristofferson As Someone Who Was “Very Kind And Generous”
Turner learned about Kristofferson’s death just moments before he took to the stage for his concert on Sunday evening (September 29). He felt moved to perform a tribute to Kristofferson, who he greatly admired.
“I’ve crossed paths with Kris Kristofferson throughout my career quite a bit, and he’s always been very kind and generous to me,” Turner told the crowd. “I got the news right before we came out here on stage that he had passed away—let’s see if I can get through this. This is called ‘A Moment of Forever.‘”
From there, Turner delivered an emotional cover of Kristofferson’s “A Moment of Forever.” Kristofferson co-wrote the track with Daniel Timms and made it the title song of his 1995 album.

Although Kristofferson never released “A Moment of Forever” as a single, it was a fan-favorite piece in his catalog. Turner himself said it was one of his favorite songs that Kristofferson ever released.
Turner showed his respect for Kristofferson when he sang “A Moment of Forever” after learning about his death. The crowd gave Turner a standing ovation when he finished the song, as he said, “We love you, Kris.”

Turner and Kristofferson were more than mere acquaintances. They also worked together, collaborating on an updated rendition of Kristofferson’s “Why Me” for Turner’s 2020 album, Country State of Mind.
