Back in December, a cancer-stricken fan’s wish came true when he met Dolly Parton.

48-year-old LeGrand Gold had been battling colon cancer for two years when he was told his treatment stopped working. That’s when Gold and his wife of 26 years, Alice, put together a bucket list, which they wrote in sharpie on a white paper napkin.

She shared the image on social media and it went viral because of one of his bucket list items, which was to meet Dolly Parton. Some of his other items had already been crossed off the list and Alice seemed determined to help her ailing husband complete it!

Gold, who goes by LG, had high hopes of going to Chicago with his wife, riding an electric bike, going to TNT’s Inside the NBA, and more.

LeGrand Gold wrote a bucket list on a napkin and included things he wanted to accomplish before he died.

Alice’s post went viral.

She shared the bucket list on Facebook and it went completely viral with the general public now also trying to help Gold check everything off his bucket list. Eventually, Dolly Parton herself found out about it.

On December 22, just before Christmas, the Golds received a FaceTime call from none other than Dolly Parton!

“Well, I’m just happy to know I have a fan that devoted. Hey LG, it’s Dolly B. I’ve heard you’ve been a fan of mine for many years, and I just wanted to thank you for that,” she said to him. “I really do thank you for shooting out the word that you’d like to talk to me. I’m just happy that we got to kind of have our journey together in this lifetime. I always want to make people happy with my music and with the things I do and the things I say and I’m just happy to know that I’ve touched your life in some way.”

Gold told her, “You’ve been a huge help, especially these past two years,” and Alice added, “We love you for so many reasons, Dolly!”

Parton signed off the call by saying, “Just know that I will always love you,” before singing a little snippet of her iconic song.

LaGrand Gold passed away at the age of 48.

Unfortunately, this incredible story has a sad ending, as it has been reported that Gold passed away on February 8th.

Alice told People, “Out of the 11 items [on the list], we thought Dolly would be the impossible, but true to Dolly form, she once again reminds the world that dreams really do come true.”

We will keep Alice and their five children, in our thoughts and prayers. Watch LG and Dolly’s meeting in the video below.
