The Presley family is no stranger to tragedy. Lisa Marie Presley was just nine years old when her father, the legendary Elvis Presley passed away.

Lisa Marie grew up without her father, often paying tribute to him, and eventually raised a family of her own. She’s a mom to four children – Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough with her first husband Danny Keough, and twin daughters Harper and Finley Lockwood with fourth husband Michael Lockwood.

Now, almost 2 years after her brother’s death, Riley and her family are mourning another huge loss. In an Instagram post, Riley revealed that her Uncle John had passed away after a battle with cancer.

She shared a photo of her uncle with her husband, Ben Smith Petersen, in a Jiu-Jitsu gym.

“We lost my beautiful Uncle John last week to cancer,” she wrote. “From my earliest memories he was such a joyous soul. He is truly loved by so many people….I felt like making a post recognizing this kind and wonderful man who’s spirit touched so many people including my husband, so deeply. He was the greatest friend to my father and my husband and I am so thankful we had him in our lives for as long as we did. You are so loved and missed. Rest easy JQ.”

Anyone who knows him is truly lucky. He was always down for a roll & had the funniest one liners around. I’m miss you so much already man & I hope that you know how important you are to me. fuck cancer. OSS Rest In Peace Professor.”
