Dolly Parton Is A Rockstar Now

Dolly Parton was initially hesitant when she learned she was nominated to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. She tried to withdraw herself from consideration, but the Hall told her she could not.

After some thought, Parton realized that artists of all genres can find a home in the Rock Hall. She changed her mind about being a nominee, and she was eventually inducted into the Hall during a ceremony in November.

Parton vowed to release a rock album after her induction, and started working on it right away. Fans have been anxious to hear news about the project.

Dolly Names Collaborators On Her New Rock Album

Finally, on May 9 Parton dropped tons of details about her rock album, which is fittingly titled Rockstar.

The album includes a whopping total of 30 tracks, including originals and covers. Many of the songs feature famous collaborators such as Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, and Sting. She even got surviving Beatles members Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney to join her, Peter Frampton, and Mick Fleetwood on a cover of “Let It Be.”

Parton also covered Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s “Freebird.” Her rendition of the song features guitarist Gary Rossington, who passed away in March. The recording also features former member Artimus Pyle and includes vocals from late lead singer Ronnie Van Zant.

The band expressed how excited they are to hear Parton’s recording.

Parton shared a post on social media revealing Rockstar‘s cover art and release date. The album is coming out in November, and is available to pre-order now. As for the cover art, it shows Parton posing in a car while all dolled up in an outfit made of leather and lace.

I’m a rockstar now!” Parton said in the caption. “My new album ‘Rockstar’ is coming November 17 and it’s available for pre-order. Let’s rock n’ roll.”
