Cody Johnson did not disappoint with the live performance of his hit song “Til You Can’t” at CMA Fest earlier this year (2023).

After recently scoring his first dub in the CMA world with “Til You Can’t” in the CMA Single of the Year category, it hardly seems right that this was CoJo’s first ever CMA Fest.

“Til You Can’t” was the lead single on Cody’s recent album, Human: The Double Album.

“Ben Stennis and Matt Rodgers wrote, in my opinion, one of the greatest country music songs of all time and I’m just so blessed to have it in my hands,” Johnson stated as he received his award at the CMA Awards last fall. “Trent Willmon and Jack Clarke, these men that are standing behind me, they might be the greatest producer and the greatest engineer in the business. I’m so grateful to be here. God bless country music. Thank you so much.”

If anyone deserves to be at the CMA Fest, it’s Cody Johnson. With a classic country sound, this Texas native worked endlessly to make a way for himself in the country music world.

Cody stated, “I’ve wanted to chase a lot of dreams, but country music was the dream that always seemed to come back to the forefront for me in my life.”

Once upon a time, the singer was determined to become a world-famous rodeo competitor before deciding to pursue country music full-time. Cody’s dreams of becoming a country music singer came true to the fullest extent, but the star also knows what it’s like to chase a dream and fail.

Cody took time to offer some encouragement to the CMA Fest crowd.

“Let me ask you this, how many people in this stadium tonight have ever had a dream that didn’t come true?” He questioned the audience before his performance. “I want you to look at me right now. I am living proof that sometimes even though the dream doesn’t come true, that a dream will come true.”

Cody proceeded to share a little bit of his testimony with the crowd of over 50,000 people stating “I owe everything I’ve got tonight to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me the ability to be here tonight. I am the most imperfect Christian in this room. I got more problems than you do, I promise you. I will bet on it any day of the week, but that doesn’t mean I’m scared to stand up here in front of all y’all tonight and say hey, the glory goes to Him and I’m happy to be here playing country music at CMA Fest tonight.”

What’s not to love about Cody Johnson?

“Til You Can’t” has raked in several awards so far including CMA Awards for Music Video of the Year and Single of the Year, and a Grammy Award for Best Country Song.
