During an appearance on the Country Countdown USA podcast, Cody Johnson revealed that he and Lainey Wilson have been in talks about recreating the iconic track.
During the conversation, Johnson shared that he has always wanted to record a duet with Wilson. One day, while listening to “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” he realized that it was the perfect song to do with the “Country’s Cool Again” singer.
“I called Lainey and said we should record that song together,” Johnson said, confirming that “she agreed” to record the track with him. “But we haven’t done it yet,” he added.
About “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man”
Originally written by Becki Bluefield and Jim Owen, the song was released in 1973 and recorded by the legendary duo Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. It became the pair’s third number-one hit and has since become a country classic, covered by many country stars over the years.
While fans wait for the upcoming duet between Cody Johnson and Lainey Wilson, the pair are also busy with their own exciting projects.
Johnson recently released the emotional music video for his song “Dirt Cheap,” which is the second single from his 2023 album Leather, following his #1 hit “The Painter.”
In Lainey Wilson news, on August 23, the country star officially released her long-awaited fifth studio album, Whirlwind.
The 14-song collection includes previously released tracks such as “Hang Tight Honey,” “Good Horses,” “4x4xU,” and “Country’s Cool Again,” along with deeply personal songs that reflect the highs and lows Wilson has experienced over the past few years.
“I’ve been trying to sit down for a while now and talk about what this record means to me but the truth is I feel like this record says it all,” Wilson wrote in a statement. “I’ve grown so much in the past few years and I have such a different view of love and life and loss. The highs and lows of the whirlwind have taught me a lot about what’s important and how to never give up on trying to find your inner peace.”
