The incomparable Brenda Lee took the Opry stage and performed the song she first released when she was just 13 years old!
Lee recently released the song’s first-ever music video with some help from famous friends like Trisha Yearwood and Tanya Tucker.
Thanks to this certain time of year and the new music video – which used her original 1958 vocals – her song has finally hit number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart!
It’s clear this song has meant so much to Lee, and the fans, seeing as she broke down when she found out that the song went to the top of the charts. Watch that video here. It also makes her the oldest woman (at 78 years old) to ever reach the top of this chart in particular, passing Mariah Carey who held the record at 53 years old.
Lee took the Opry stage in a gorgeous red dress to close out the show, and she was eventually joined by the entire cast of the special for the end of “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree!”
