Country star Brad Paisley and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, will open their second free grocery store in Nashville, Tennessee.

Both celebrities in their own right, the Paisleys felt that their two children, Huck and Jasper, needed a “broader perspective” on the world. So, they all began volunteering. This journey led them to volunteer at Unity Shoppe, a free grocery store in California.

Brad and Kim thought this was an incredible resource for those in need and decided that Nashville needed one, too. And then, The Store was built.

The Store opened on March 12, 2020 on the campus of Belmont University, just 10 days after one of the worst tornadoes that Music City and The Volunteer State had ever seen. The employees and volunteers completely shifted their business model to help their displaced residents. But, just four days after they opened their door, the state of Tennessee issued a stay-at-home mandate due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Overnight, The Store came up with a way to still service their community but also keep everyone safe by implementing curbside pickup and porch delivery.

In its first year, The Store provided 1.2-1.3 million meals to their community.

The Store finally opened as it was intended in July 2021.

We’re sure the numbers are still there, and have likely increased due to inflation and rising housing costs across the nation. They have done so much for the community and are growing at such rapids speeds that they just announced they are opening their second location on August 28!

The new location will be on the Tristar Centennial Medical Center campus and will help The Store reach their goal of doubling the number of families they serve. Between the two locations, The Store will help over 2,000 families facing food insecurity.
