When Travis came out on stage, Top said these kinds of words about him.
“Well, I’m trying to do as good as justice as I can to one of this man’s songs. It’s one of my favorites and a whole bunch of his are all my favorites. So I hope you all enjoy this tonight,”
Top, clearly a fan of Travis, chose to honor the “Forever and Ever, Amen” singer with a cover of his classic hit “1982.” The song, although titled “1982,” was released in 1985 and written by Buddy Blackmon and Vip Vipperman.
The song was an apt choice by Top as it was the song that took Travis to the next level of his career.

As you can see from the video, Travis smiles from ear to ear when he hears his tune sung by the young singer who represents the next generation of country artists. Top honored him during his performance by giving Travis all his attention throughout the song.
After the performance was over, Top posted on his Instagram, “Honored to get to meet Mr Randy Travis and sing one of his songs for him. Living legend.”
