Alan Jackson Performs His Last Touring Show

One year ago, country music legend Alan Jackson announced that he would retire from touring following his Last Call: One More For The Road Tour. The tour included one stop per month between August 2024 and May 2025, marking his last time performing in each city he visited.

Each show grew more emotional than the last, as the Country Music Hall of Fame member neared the end of his touring career. Some very special guests were in the crowd for the second-to-last show. Alan Jackson’s daughters brought his two young grandsons to watch him perform for the first time.

At his final show on May 17th in Milwaukee, Jackson performed a 22-song set, then gratefully waved goodbye to the crowd as they cheered for him at the top of their lungs. He held onto one of his crew members for balance as he left the stage.

What led Alan Jackson to retire from touring?

After more than three decades of touring, Alan Jackson is saying goodbye to road life due to chronic health issues. In 2021, he revealed on the TODAY Show that he is battling Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease (CMT), a degenerative nerve disease with no cure. He said:

“It’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious. And I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable.”

Now 66 years old, he relies on a custom-made stand or a barstool to keep him upright while performing on stage. In the video below, you can see him leaning against the apparatus.

It’s hard to capture the emotion of this concert in video, but it was absolutely amazing to see this legend one last time live. 🫶 Happy I was able to experience this with @Dudley #alanjackson #alanjacksontour #alanjacksonmusic #lasttour #legend #countryartist #rememberwhen ♬ original sound – JJ

Will he perform again?

Although no future shows have officially been announced, Jackson teased a Nashville show during the last night of his tour. As the Milwaukee crowd cheered him on, he said:

“Y’all gonna make me tear up out here. But I will say, this is my last road show out here, but we’re planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime. It just felt like I had to end it all where it all started. And that’s in Nashville, Tenn. Music City.”
