Vince Gill celebrated his 67th birthday on Friday, April 12th

Vince Gill was born in Norman, Oklahoma on April 12, 1957. He showed an aptitude for music at a young age, and his father, who played part-time in a country band, encouraged him to pursue a music career.

In his early 20s, Vince joined the country rock band Pure Prarie League and later joined the Cherry Bombs before signing a solo record deal in the late 1980s. He was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in August 1991 and has graced the famed Opry stage countless times in the 30+ years since.

The Grand Ole Opry shared a special birthday message to Vince Gill:

Vince Gill’s daughters join him on stage at the Opry on his birthday

On Friday (April 12) Vince Gill was a featured performer at the Grand Ole Opry. To commemorate his birthday, his daughters Corrina (22) and Jenny (31) “tagged along” for the evening. Unexpectedly, Gill invited his daughters to join him for a song, creating a heartwarming moment for all to witness.

The family trio sang “Jenny Dreamed of Trains” written by Vince Gill and later covered by John Denver.

Jenny Gill, who is a musician herself, shared a video of the touching performance and shared:

“Dad invited the both of us to sing with him but we didn’t have a plan. It was Dad’s idea for us to do “Jenny Dreamed of Trains.” When I sang the first few notes I felt calm and confident (which is unusual for me) and that allowed me to really soak in the moment I was in.”

She expressed gratitude to her friend and singer/songwriter Ellie Holcomb for capturing the moment on camera. She added:

“As a kid I took these moments for granted but now I know better. Happy Birthday Dad. Thanks for letting me share such a special night with you. I love you.”
