Carrie Underwood was only ten years old when Patty Loveless released her now-iconic song, “Blame It on Your Heart.” The track reached the #1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart and was the third chart-topping hit of Loveless’ career.

Today, “Blame It on Your Heart” is known as a quintessential 90s country song.

The Grand Ole Opry hosted a special in honor of 90s country songs and artists. Called Opry Live: Opry Loves the ’90s, the special aired on Circle Network on July 23, 2022.

Underwood was one of the artists who participated in the special. Ahead of the program’s airing, her team told her fans she’d be singing “her favorite Patty Loveless hit.”

That song, of course, was “Blame It on Your Heart.” It’s a song Underwood has loved for a long time, which she proved in a video she shared before the Opry special.

The old video shows a young Underwood proudly singing “Blame It on Your Heart.” This clip proves she was destined for country music stardom!

To show how far she’s come, Underwood paired the old clip with some footage from her modern day Opry performance. “How it started…How it’s going,” she wrote in the caption.

You can see the video of a young Underwood singing “Blame It on Your Heart” below. Talk about a throwback!
