Trisha Yearwood’s Performance Of The National Anthem Met With Applause

No stranger to the ice of the Bridgestone Arena, Trisha Yearwood sang the National Anthem on Tuesday, April 8, at a Nashville Predators game.

Before the Predators would go on to defeat the New York Islanders, going 7-6 in overtime, Yearwood had attendees engaged … and unified in their patriotism. The beloved final words of “The Star-Spangled Banner” inspired applause, particularly as she sang, “And the home of the brave!”

This was sung as the opening of the fifth and final Nashville Predators’ Music City Hockey Bobblehead Series Game. A collectible bobblehead of Yearwood was given to the first 10,000 attendees who arrived at the stadium. Depicting Yearwood in a Predators jersey — and standing with the team’s “official office puppy,” Smash — this bobblehead is the last in the series.

Previous country stars given the bobblehead treatment by the Preds include the likes of Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Amy Grant and Vince Gill, and Jelly Roll.

A Special Jersey

While her bobblehead may be wearing the Predators’ signature navy, gold, and white, Yearwood attended the game wearing a unique variation of the jersey.

Emblazoned with the name ROGERS on the back, Yearwood donned a purple and white bedazzled Predators jersey. This jersey was made in honor of Lexi Rogers, who is the daughter of the team’s head equipment manager, Pete Rogers.

Earlier this year, Lexi was diagnosed with cancer.

In a Facebook post, Yearwood described it as an “honor” to wear Lexi’s jersey, adding, “She’s got this!”

Back on February 27, the Predators posted on their Facebook page:

“Tonight and every night we play for Lexi Rogers, daughter of our Head Equipment Manager Pete Rogers, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year … Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rogers family during this time. Smashville fights with you, Lexi 💜”

We join in that prayer for Lexi to have a swift recovery!
