Toby Keith Foundation Remembers Him With Heartfelt Tribute On 2nd Anniversary Of His Death

Toby Keith Passed Away On February 5, 2024
The legendary Toby Keith passed away after a battle with stomach cancer on February 5, 2024. In a statement made on February 6th, his family released a statement that read, “Toby passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”
Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the fall of 2021, but didn’t disclose this to the public until June 2022.
After Toby passed away, it was clear how much he meant to so many people, including the children that this foundation, the Toby Keith Foundation, helped.
On The 2nd Anniversary Of His Death, The Toby Keith Foundation Paid Tribute To Toby
The Toby Keith Foundation funded different projects, including OK Kids Korral, a place that has become a “haven for the entire family as a child with cancer receives treatment.”
Since 2013, the OK Kids Korral has provided “daytime and overnight lodging for pediatric patients and their families,” so families don’t have to worry about the financial strain that cancer treatment often entails.

On February 5, 2026, the Toby Keith Foundation penned a heartfelt tribute to their founding man.
“Two years ago, we lost Toby. He taught all of us that music can be motivational, fun and heartfelt,” the statement read. “To us at the Korral, he taught us that philanthropy can calm minds, soothe hearts and change lives. Toby was a deeper well than his public persona. His support, thoughtfulness, funny sarcasm, guidance and intuitive intelligence are deeply missed. It’s an honor to continue his legacy of giving back.”
In His Last Interview, Toby Keith Said He Wanted His Legacy To Be OK Kids Korral
The interview, which was filmed shortly before his death, Toby said, “[The OK Kids Korral is] my best gift I’ve ever given to the world. One of the first things I thought of when I got cancer was, who’s gonna take care of the Korral? Who will carry that torch?”
Toby’s children, Krystal Keith, Shelley Covel, and Stelen Covel, have all stepped up to carry on their father’s legacy.
“Somebody has to carry the torch, somebody has to lead the charge in raising money and making sure that this foundation is able to continue to support the Korral,” Krystal said. “So, we’ve already started stepping into those roles in making sure that we are helping to build those relationships,”
She continued, “I would say — and he had said — this is one of the greatest gifts he could give the world was the Korral. So, this is one of the things that he looked the most forward to, and I think this is the thing that my siblings and I have discussed being kind of our purpose from this point forward.”
We love that Toby’s legacy has continued not only in his music but also in his philanthropy.
